#50...take a hike.....

Well, A BIG CONGRATULATIONS needs to go out to Tanya. She completed the 1 mile snow shoe hike through Voyageurs National Park on Friday night!!!!! Me, on the other hand, didn't do so well.  We were a little late getting there to begin with, so we had to wait for the first group to get back before we could set out. That was all good, and then it came time to get the snow shoes on, I got Thatchers on, and Tanya was trying to get Madalynns on, and she was not cooperating at all. Tanya finally said "you do this, I can't!" By this time Thatcher was cruising around in his snow shoes making ever one say "aww, look at him go!" I, after 10 minutes got Madalynn snow shoes on but she could not walk in them. Wait, let me change that statement. She WOULD not walk in them. She is dramatic enough as it is, but she pulled out her most dramatic performance of all time. She was falling all over the place, and just being difficult!!! I finally took the snow shoes off, and she walked in her boots with Tanya. So now, we are in a big group setting off on our night snow shoe hike through the park, and Thatcher was doing so well. I asked him a few times if he just wanted to walk in his boots, but he was determined to walk in the shoes!!! But then tragedy struck! A man wanted us to stop so that he could take a picture of Thatcher to send to his family in Florida......it all went downhill from there. He couldn't get back on the trail right, and his snow shoes kept crossing, and I was getting frustrated because people were waiting for us to move, and so I jsut decided that that was it, and we wouldn't walk the trail. And that broke his heart, I felt bad, but he just wasn't going to be able to walk fast enough for us to keep up with the rest of the group.
Even though it didn't go that well, we do plan on going back and doing it again, and I think we might try and cross country ski too!!! But I will take the kids back and teach Madalynn how to walk in snow shoes, and let Thtacher run wild with them on!!!!!!!
